Wii MotionPlus explained

The Wii MotionPlus addon clips onto the bottom of the standard Wii remote that comes with your Wii console. The Wii MotionPlus enabled controller now contains a tiny gyroscope set in a micro-chip. The InvenSense multi-axis rate gyroscope works with the Wii remote's own accelerometer to provide a much more precise measurement of the controller's spatial position.

Where it was possible to cheat in Wii sports (included with every Wii console) by flicking your wrist and bowling a strike for example. With Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus this is going to be impossible. The new Wii MotionPlus enabled controllers can tell the difference between a flick of the wrist and a proper hand movement.

The Wii MotionPlus addon included with Wii Sports Resort includes a new rubber safety cover. This cover is required to fit the enalrged form factor of the Motion Plus enabled Wii remote.

Wii MotionPlus battery life

The extra power and functionality does come at a cost and that cost is increased power consumption. The Wii MotionPlus attachment does pull more power from the batteries and this results in decreased battery life. We would recommend that you buy a Wii MotionPlus power station to charge your controllers.
